Beverly T. Puzia, Ph.D.

Dr. Beverly T. Puzia is serving as Director for Compass Christian Counseling at North Point Church.  Dr. Puzia has over 20 years of experience as a member of a church staff. She has been in private practice as a counselor since 1991 with Zion Clinic Counseling Services and with North Point since 1993.

Since February of 2006, she has served as a counselor and the Director of Compass Christian Counseling in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois.

Dr. Puzia’s training includes:  Moody Bible Institute; B.Th. from International Seminary; M.S. and Ph.D. in Philosophy/Clinical Pastoral Counseling from Evangelical Theological Seminary. She has been a Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor (Advanced Certification) with the National Christian Counselors Association since 1993. She is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and the Christian Association of Psychological Studies.

She was married to David Mayhak in 1961 and they had two children and three grandchildren.  David passed away in 2006.  Dr. Puzia was remarried in 2009 to Ed Puzia of Milwaukee.  They make their home in Lexington, South Carolina.  She is a member of First Baptist Church of Lexington  where she uses her counseling skills.

Dr. Puzia returns to Illinois one week each month to meet with clients at Compass.

In 2005, she became a member of the Steering Committee and the Director of Training for The Healing Place.  This outreach of the Rockford Rescue Mission provides 24 hour phone line and a place of respite for women.

In addition to years of training and experience with adults, teens and marriage and family, Dr. Puzia is a speaker and workshop leader on a variety of issues.
